Chestnuts roasting on an
open fire
Jack Frost nipping at your
nose
Yule-tide carols being
sung by a choir
And folks dressed up like
Eskimos.
During the holiday season, Jack Frost returns along with
Santa Claus, Rudolph, Frosty the Snowman, the Grinch, and the rest of favorite
seasonal characters. Jack Frost is a mischievous, but mostly benign, figure.
Often portrayed as a white-haired, blue-skinned, figure, he is said to paint
designs on our windows and nip at unsuspecting noses (and fingers and toes)
during the winter months.

My first meeting with Jack Frost was in the movie Frosty
the Snowman. If memory serves, he is the
one who saved Frosty from melting so that he could board the train to cooler
climates.

Jack was also seen in the movie Santa Claus is coming to
town I think my favorite is Jack in the
Santa Clause 3 movie played by Martin Short.
He is very mischievous, and steals Santa's powers to take control of
Christmas. His powers become useless
after he warms up with a nice hug from a little girl.
There is another movie where a man named Jack Frost is
turned into a snowman, and reconnects with his son.

This holiday season has had an unusually warm spell after
a chilly end to November, but hopefully today, on Jack Frost Day, he will come
out of hiding and nip on your nose!
